Imagine my surprise to see colors I use to see under the heading of French Country Style. For quite some time now the French Country look was about absence. Absence of color and print or very little of. The furniture was usually distressed. The entire home devoid of color except for perhaps flowers. Even the floors were painted white in some.
Imagine the gasp I let out when I saw these images on Elle Decor. Sage green? Wonderful! Seen here.
I love this kitchen! It’s an orangey wood kitchen. (It looks like my pine table, maybe the sign I was looking for to not change it.) It’s a let’s sit down for coffee kitchen. There are no open shelves for displaying “stuff”. I imagine the person that lives here keeps their books in their bookshelves with the spine outwards so you can see the title of the book and even discuss it.
Red used to be a prominent color for French decorating but was ushered out. When did it receive the green light?
It will be interesting to see if this holds on and the French look is indeed one of color again.
